IVNY MISSION STATEMENT
IVNY represents an entirely new concept of providing excellent healthcare for people who either live and/or work in Manhattan. IVNY is an independent center which does not participate with commercial insurance plans and is not affiliated with an individual academic medical center. IVNY provides access for elective intravenous treatments during weekends, weekday evenings and weekdays, so that patients may not otherwise disrupt their busy weekday schedules. IVNY also represents an interim destination between the doctor’s office and the emergency room (ER), permitting some patients to avoid the ER, yet still receive high quality medical care. Patient safety and comfort are IVNY’s top priorities. IVNY permits referring doctors, representing a wide spectrum of specialties, to practice “the old fashioned way” by selecting optimal therapies which are in the best interest of their patients and not constrained by corporate-minded administrators, large legal departments, or restrictive insurance plans. All patients are evaluated and assessed by an experienced nurse practitioner (NP), who executes the referring doctor’s orders and with whom communication is effective and timely. Patients may also be evaluated by an IVNY doctor-on-call if the referring doctor so requests. Major management decisions and follow-up are directed by the referring personal physician and implemented by an experienced IVNY staff. Many discerning Manhattan patients will undoubtedly appreciate this special, personal care, permitting avoidance of long ER waiting times and possibly hospital admission. Discerning New Yorkers should be more willing in the future to accept a reasonable OOP expense, if and when necessary, owing to the progressive and inevitable deterioration of the quality of service provided by ERs in large medical centers with the phase in of national healthcare reform. IVNY treats patients with a wide variety of diagnoses including rheumatologic disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, osteoporosis, skin disorders, acute and chronic anemias, acute and chronic dehydration, acute and chronic infections, malignancy, bleeding disorders and many others. Although Dr. David J. Wolf, Medical Director of IVNY, is a hematologist and medical oncologist with over 30 years of experience in providing complex IV therapies, IVNY’s primary goal is to treat patients with both non-malignant as well as malignant disorders.
The center is conveniently located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
